Oliver Coleman, comedian
Laughing inside the box

You may not know it but it’s quite likely that the person delivering your groceries is in actual fact a comedian.

Though they may appear like regular delivery drivers by day, by night they’re compelled to stand up in front of strangers telling stories about their lives in the hope for a couple of laughs and maybe a few dollars.

For the most part comedians are poorly paid, sometimes even gigging for free. The nature of their work requires routinely revealing personal information about themselves for which they are humiliated by people publicly ridiculing them.

It’s not well known but around fifty percent of Fair Food’s driving team are comedians.

As a social enterprise Fair Food is proud to support comedians who through no fault of their own are driven to continually put their dignity on the line to make people laugh.

This April the Melbourne Comedy Festival celebrates comedians from all around the world.

Fair Food would like to join in and ask you to help us celebrating our very own comedian/drivers by going to see their shows…

Game Boys - Escape to the Megaverse, Melbourne Comedy Festival
Escape to the Megaverse

Fair Food driver Josh Porter with his brother, Eden, who recently came eleventh in Australian Survivor 2024, are Game Boys Comedy.

People say we’re like the Umbilical Brothers but a bit younger, and actually brothers.”

Josh describes Escape to the Megaverse, which won the 2023 Green Room Award for Best Independent Theatre, as bursting at the seams with pop-culture references, ’90s nostalgia and some hi-tech laughs you won’t see anywhere else at the Festival.

For the past nine years the Game Boys have been delighting audiences with their complex and innovative stage shows, which are a unique collaboration between Josh and Eden and Melbourne based audiovisual designer Kinetic Screen.

Triple R said Megaverse was ‘One of my absolute highlights… incredibly inventive… chaotic and funny and clever and definitely recommended.’

Oliver Coleman, Melbourne Comedy Fest - Goof
Goof

Triple RRR regular Oliver Coleman is goofy, thoughtful and knows how to write.

With a reputation for flimsy cardboard props and deep philosophical thought, Coleman’s debut at the 2019 Comedy Festival was rewarded with a Best Newcomer nomination – five years later he’s being talked about as one of the most creative comedians in the country.

Chortle UK described Oliver’s performance in Goof as sweeping in scope with hilarious observations, eccentric sketches all combining into a rich comic feast.

Hitch a ride for an hour inside Oliver Coleman’s goofy mind in this exquisitely crafted new show

Luka Muller - 5 Top Smells I Smelled Before, Melbourne Comedy Festival
5 Top Smells I Smelled Before

Luka Muller is more than just a Fair Food driver/comedian/Triple J presenter he’s also a gifted amateur chemist.

During an attempt to deal with his chronic phone addiction Luka wrote a comedy show about his favourite smells.

Wanting every audience member to fully experience his vision Luka made a few thousand scratch and sniff cards. He even made an instructional video so people who were inspired by him could make their own scratch and sniffs at home.

The Age says Luka’s shows are personally revealing, frank and hilarious but don’t mention the scratch and sniff, which means you’ll have to go smell them for yourself.
