Two of our much-loved men honoured on Queen's Birthday

Chris' newsletter

17th June 2014

Two men who’s vision, dedication and enormous-heartedness guided CERES from a tip site into Australia’s most visited environmental centre have been recognised in today’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.  Eric, who recently died, and Noel, who recently retired, were both with CERES from the beginning.  With great dedication and very dry humour they gave themselves to transforming a dump into an urban oasis and their students into caring, conscious citizens.  Congratulations and thank you for what you have given to our community.

Eric and Noel received Member of the Order of Australia awards.

Eric Bottomley   For significant service to the environment and conservation, and to the development of sustainability education programs.

Noel Blencowe  For significant service to environmental education, and to the promotion of sustainability and social equity.
