Seasonal Food Events: The Grain Store's Full Moon Dinner

Chris' newsletter

6th March 2014

Despite the widely held belief that the full moon encourages people to misbehave like lunatics, farmers almanacs have been recommending planting and harvesting by the moon for centuries. Far from lunacy, it is simply common sense as tides swell and sap rises in plants. It has long been recognised by farmers that a full moon is an excellent time to harvest.

We like The Grain Store’s quietly spoken Executive Chef, Ingo Meissner; he’s committed to cooking with seasonal food not only because it reduces food miles but also because of the  superior flavour in fruit and vegetables picked at their peak.
