What is CERES?

CERES (pronounced ‘series’) stands for Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies. CERES is built on a 10 acre, decommissioned municipal tip on the banks of the Merri Creek, in East Brunswick, Melbourne, where we run extensive environmental education programs, an organic farm, market, shop and café and permaculture and bushfood nursery. CERES conserves and recycles its water and waste and has an extensive renewable energy program.

CERES was built on the passion and commitment of the local community. It is recognised as an international leader in community and environmental practice and has won many awards including the United Nations Australia World Environment Day Award in 2009.

Each year over 470,000 people connect with CERES either through visiting the park or through our off-site education programs.
